Oscar nominations- Avatar is nominated in nine categories

The 82nd Oscar nominations are out and Avatar the biggest grosser of all times have got nine nominations. But it is not the only movie to get these as many nominations as Hurt Locker also gets the same number. The masterpiece from James Cameron managed to get nominations in best director and best picture along with many technical ones but it did not seem to influence the jury much in the acting divisions. Avatar is the favorite to brag the main award but it is sure will face some competition from Hurt Locker which has been directed by Kathryn Bigelow, who as we all know is Cameron’s ex-wife.

Though Avatar remains the favorite but it will face some competition from the other nine nominations- Precious, Up, Inglourious Basterds, District 9, Blind Side, A Serious Man, Up in the Air, An Education and Hurt Locker. The Oscar nominations were announced in LA by Anne Hathaway along with Tom Sherak, the president of Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. Avatar which made all spell bound with its 3D effects found nominations in many technical categories including- Visual Effects, Sound Editing, Music, Original Score, Film Editing, Cinematography and Art Direction. After these nominations James Cameron may want to teach some acting to his avatars if he plans the sequel for this amazing adventure.
