Edge of Darkness Review: Don’t mess with me!
Do not mess with Mel!
Joyfully expecting Detective Thomas Craven (Mel Gibson), his daughter Emma (Bojana Novakovic). It has not been seen for a long catch and a correspondingly large amount. When the lady, however, complained of feeling unwell, she does with Dad on the way to the hospital. As soon as she is outside the home, they will be shot on the street. Craven kanns believe it, and now has to cope with the loss of his beloved daughter and scatter their ashes into the sea. Have precisely at this beach, on the both so happy memories.
While the investigation goes into the murder case, only slowly, begins to Detective Craven, researching on your own, and sometimes even pushes for suspicious information. Not only does the hair of his daughter (he has cut off a piece and it always helps) with you is radioactive – Emma apparently led a double life. Her boss (Danny Houston), for which she has been working with nuclear materials, is as opaque as Agent Jedburgh (Ray Winstone), who knows more than he has in each case on its own. Thomas Craven is sliding ever further from a world full of corruption and lies, in his life has not much value.
Movie rating
The fact that Mel Gibson is a tough guy, he has us already demonstrated a couple of times. Payback, and the success we know, the better you do not fuck with this man. In his latest film, Edge of Darkness, he puts the shoes back on and show, directed by Martin Campbell (Casino Royale), a tough but compelling idea.
The story does not hold for a long time with preliminaries, but is already showing in the opening credits a couple of floating corpses, of course, what makes the audience curious as to the following just under two hours. Martin Campbell has brought the story back in the eighties to the British television and therefore has no problems doing it for the American cinema again right away. He insists on it but not on the surface of the individual characters, but they can act with some depth. Above all, Mel Gibson this option exercises and gives thanks to omnipresent. Only toward the end is overwhelmed by the father of the standard Avenger, which we expected. Since milk is even a deadly weapon …
The supporting characters do not disappear just like that on the wing, but playing with spirits. Most notably Ray Winstone (The Departed), there are wonderfully conspiratorial and arrogant. Whenever he appears in this troubled history, it is said to the audience to prick up their ears. The guy is great and could very well may happen more often.
Conclusion: The Avenging Angel Mel Gibson makes a really good figure. Without great mimic performance (he always makes a sad impression), he gives his character just the personality needed in a film is like Edge of Darkness. No brutal thug, but a family man who is determined to do anything. That means for the audience almost continuously for almost a high degree of tension and related entertainment.
